Our Summer Matters campaign is the first-ever statewide initiative focused on creating and expanding access to high quality summer learning opportunities for all California students. Summer Matters is increasing the number of students served by summer learning programs and generating momentum and support for summer learning among education, elected, business, civic, and philanthropic leaders across the state.
Summer provides a unique opportunity for hands-on learning and activities, perfect for children and youth to be involved in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs. The Summer STEM Brief outlines the lessons learned from three years of high-quality summer STEM programs throughout the Bay Area.
Our goals for STEM programs in the summer include:
– Increase youth interest and confidence in STEM topics through innovative programming.
– Strengthen staff ability and confidence to teach STEM in summer and after school.
– Develop a replicable and sustainable model for technical assistance in summer STEM programs.
– Inform statewide efforts in STEM programming with local best practices.Download our latest update on our ongoing Summer STEM program
