Partnership for Children & Youth (PCY) believes all children need opportunities to learn beyond the school day and year to build skills and relationships, expand their horizons, access social capital, and discover their passions. PCY improves learning opportunities and conditions for youth by increasing access and quality of expanded learning programs in California through a strategic mix of policy, advocacy, and capacity building. Priorities

SUMMER LEARNING

We promote the importance of summer learning, help district leaders launch or improve their summer programs, and advocate for public funding to ensure all children have access to high-quality summer learning programs.

SUMMER LEARNING

We are working to increase access to expanded learning opportunities for middle and high school youth, and document and promote strategies to effectively serve older youth in expanded learning programs.

OLDER YOUTH

EARLY LEARNING COLLABORATION

We are working alongside our early learning partners to advocate for policy shifts that enable program collaboration to achieve the goals of universal access to expanded learning and pre-kindergarten for all students, and ensure that expanded learning providers have the tools to better serve their youngest learners.

We are working to elevate the impact of expanded learning on multilingual learners and develop and promote resources to support multilingual learners and families in expanded learning programs.

With more funding for expanded learning programs than ever before, we are focused on ensuring the success of this funding in achieving the dream of universal access to afterschool and summer programs in California.

ADVOCACY

We serve as a bridge between decision-makers and on-the-ground program providers to ensure local and state policies meet the needs of children and families. We advocate for the success of students in school and life and we staff and coordinate the California Afterschool Advocacy Alliance (CA3), the statewide voice for afterschool.
